2008-2009 Season - Men's golf finishes seventh at CCIW tournament
The Augustana men’s golf team finished in seventh place at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin tournament with a team score of 1280. The Vikings shot 334 and 326 as a team in the final two rounds of play at the Rail Golf Club in Huntley, Illinois. Illinois Wesleyan brought home the team title with a score of 1165, 23 shots ahead of runner-up Carthage (1188). Wheaton (1202), Millikin (1221), North Central (1234), Elmhurst (1248), and North Park (1328) rounded out the field.
Sophomore Kyle Weigand (Leyden HS, Franklin Park, Ill.) led Augustana with a 17th place individual finish after rounds of 78 and 80 over the weekend. He finished with a total score of 309. Phil Litchfield (Benet Academy, Darien, Ill.) was second on the team with a total score of 319, tying for 28th place after shooting rounds of 80 and 83 at the Rail Golf Club. Cole Wells (Tri-Valley HS, Downs, Ill.) came in third for the Blue & Gold with a total score of 324. He shot 87 and 81 in the final two rounds and finished in 31st place. Ted Keopple (Geneseo HS, Geneseo, Ill.) completed the team scoring for Augustana with a total of 337. He finished in 34th place overall after shooting 89 and 87 in the last two rounds.
Bennett Blakeman of Illinois Wesleyan won the individual title with a score of 285.
