2009 Season - Women's Track 13th in final rankings
The Augustana Vikings women’s track & field team of veteran head coach Fred Whiteside have ended their season 13 th in the NCAA Division III national poll. The Vikings came out of the season with a total of 180.57 points in the poll, which is conducted by the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association.
Wisconsin-Oshkosh took first place in the poll with a total of 199.36 points. Washington University got bumped to second place with a finish of 197.47 points. University of St. Thomas in Minnesota took third place (196.06), Wisconsin-La Crosse in fourth (195.82), and Tufts University in the number five spot (192.60).
Augustana won three invitationals this year. The Vikings took the Early Spring Opener on March 21, the Viking Olympics on March 30 and the Augustana Invitational on April 17. They were fourth of 17 teams at the Central of Iowa Invitational and they were third of 10 at the Lee Calhoun Memorial Relays. In both the Central Invitational and the Calhoun Relays, Augustana was the first NCAA Division III team in the standings. The Vikings placed fourth in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin championship last weekend.
