Summer Programs 2010

At Augustana College, learning does not take a break for the summer; rather it becomes even more enriching and individualized. Many of our continuing students will be engaged in research alongside faculty members. In addition, we offer a wide variety of learning opportunities for students of all ages.

August Experiences

Summer courses

  • For high school students

In June Augustana will create a community of high school scholars. During the day students will be involved in hands-on, experiential learning in one of a dozen subjects. At night they will stay together in Swanson Hall, our newest residence. Each evening they'll gather for a variety of activities supervised by the faculty and staff. Augustana Summer Academy will create a village of curious students who want to push their knowledge to a higher level... and have fun!

  • For first-year students

In August students in the incoming Class of 2014 will have the chance to start early. Four unique courses will be offered in small, personal and hands-on groups This is a chance to become deeply engaged in one subject with future friends and classmates, and a professor who is passionate about the subject. This three-week program will undoubtedly be one of a pivotal experience during a student's years at Augustana.

  • For continuing students

These classes — more than 70 of them — are primarily for continuing students from Augustana. However, students from other colleges and non-degree seeking students also are welcome. Most of the courses are taught on campus from May 31 to June 25, 2010. However, there is a wide assortment of classes — with variation in dates and locations, including some that are taught off-campus... even out of the country.
