2008-2009 Season - Brian Kerr named MVP for wrestling

Senior Brian Kerr (United Township HS, East Moline, Ill.) has been named the Most Valuable Performer for the 2008-09 Augustana wrestling team, it was announced today. Kerr, a four year regular at 184 pounds, was 21-15 during the recently concluded campaign. He led the team in victories and was a third place finisher in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin tournament. During his career he eclipsed the 20 victory mark three times, going 26-18 as a sophomore in 2006-07, 24-15 during his junior season of 2007-08 and then finishing 21-15. His final career record was 81-77.

Freshman Alberto Quiros (Morton HS, Cicero, Ill.) was named the Most Improved Wrestler after he compiled a record of 9-17 at 141 pounds and was third in the CCIW. Junior Kyle Brodwater (St. Joseph Hamm HS, Medford, New Jersey) was the winner of the Hardest Worker Award. Brodwater, who placed second in the CCIW at 125 pounds, was 20-12. Junior George Gogonas (Bowie HS, Austin, Texas) won the Sacrifice Award. Gogonas bumped back and forth between 125 and 134 pounds and was 13-10 after compiling a 28-13 mark as a sophomore as the regular 125 pounder.
