2008-2009 Season - Gahn 18th, Viking 10th at Millikin Spring Invite
DECATUR, Ill. – Senior Rachel Gahn (Edina HS, Edina, Minn.) continued to lead the Augustana women’s golf team, finishing tied for 18th place at the Millikin Spring Invitational this past weekend. Gahn shot rounds of 82 and 81 to finish with a total score of 163. Kayla Eckelkamp of Maryville was the individual winner in the 89 player field, finishing with a total score of 151.
Augustana finished 10th in the 15 team field with a team score of 708. The Vikings shot a total of 362 on the first day, but followed with a 346 in round two. Illinois Wesleyan won the team title with a score of 635 followed in second place by Rend Lake Community College (645). Wheaton (656), Hope (662), Washington U-St. Louis (680), Central (688), Quincy (691), Millikin (693), and North Central (705) rounded out the rest of the top 10. The Blue & Gold finished ahead of Maryville (719), Illinois College (721), Carthage (726), Indiana Tech (733), and Monmouth (795).
Brittany Carr (Lincoln Way East HS, Frankfort, Ill.) was second for Augustana after turning in a total score of 168 (86-82). She finished tied for 25th place. Heather Arizpe (Conant HS, Schaumburg, Ill.) tied for 54th place with a tally of 180 (93-87) while Jessica Berens (Schaumburg HS, Schaumburg, Ill.) shot a 202 (106-96) to finish tied for 78th place. Katie Mascheri (Hersey HS, Mt. Prospect, Ill.) rounded out the Viking scoring with a total of 208 (101-107), finishing in a tie for 85th place.
