2008-2009 Season - Vikings men's golf squad is in seventh place after two rounds of CCIW Tournament
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Augustana men’s golf team is in seventh place after the first two rounds of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin with a team score of 620. The Vikings shot a team total of 312 after firing a 308 on the opening day of competition. Illinois Wesleyan leads the way with a team score of 557 while Carthage is in second place at 576. Wheaton (581), Millikin (596), North Central (596), Elmhurst (611), and North Park (656) round out the field after the opening two rounds of action.
Sophomore Kyle Weigand (Leyden HS, Franklin Park, Ill.) continues to lead Augustana and is tied for 20th place after shooting a round of 79 on the second day. He has a total score of 151. Phil Litchfield (Benet Academy, Darien, Ill.) and Cole Wells (Tri-Valley HS, Downs, Ill.) are both tied for 30th place. Litchfield finished with a round of 79 on Saturday while Wells shot a 78 for the second straight day. Both golfers have total scores of 156. Jordan Henry (Erie HS, Erie, Ill.) is right behind in a tie for 32nd place after scoring a 77 in the second round. He has a total score of 158 after the first two rounds. Ted Keopple (Geneseo HS, Geneseo, Ill.) shot a 78 on the second day and is in 36th place with a two round total of 161.
The tournament will conclude with the third and fourth rounds of play on May 1-2 at Whisper Creek in Huntley, Illinois.
