HEAD COACH: Kris Kistler...Tenth year at Augustana College and 11th year overall as college head coach…She has compiled a record of 264-127-2 (.674) in her first nine years with the Vikings…Prior to coming to Augustana she spent one year at Plattsburg State in Plattsburgh, New York where she began the school’s program and posted a record of 9-10 in 1999…Her overall collegiate record is 273-137-2 (.665).

2008 HIGHLIGHTS: The Vikings went 26-18 and 8-6 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin…They finished fourth in the CCIW regular season and second in the conference tournament…Augustana has won at least 23 games for nine consecutive seasons and have a record of 158-63 (.715) over the past four years.

Sara Brokaw (Orion HS, Lynn Center, Ill.), 2B-1B-P…2008 team MVP and co-Best Defensive Player…Two-time first team All-CCIW…Two-time third team all-region…Second team academic all-district…Vikings’ leading hitter in 2008 with a .397 average…Also led with a .434 on-base percentage, 34 RBI (third highest single season total in school history) and 15 stolen bases…Seven home runs were second on the team and fifth best single season total in school history…Third on Augustana’s career home run list with 13…Career record of 11-4 with a 1.66 ERA (fifth best in school history)…2007 ERA of 0.51 is a school record.

Natalie Glunz (North Scott HS, Eldridge, Iowa), OF…Hit .306 with one home run and 19 RBI in 2008…Played in 42 of the Vikings’ 44 games, starting 40…Committed just one error in 38 chances for a .974 fielding percentage…Hit .355 in 2006….261 career hitter with two home runs and 35 RBI.

Melissa Nelson (West Aurora HS, Aurora, Ill.), Sophomore, OF…Second team All-CCIW…Hit .286 with two home runs and 19 RBI…Led the team with 11 doubles…Hit .316 in CCIW games.

 

Chrissy Rosin (Niles West HS, Morton Grove, Ill.), Junior, SS…Augustana’s 2008 co-Best Defensive Player…Started 43 of the Vikings’ 44 games at shortstop…Committed just five errors in 142 chances for a .965 fielding percentage…Fielded .976 in CCIW play with only one error in 14 games…Third on the team with a .341 average and four home runs…Also scored 35 runs and drove in 15…Led the team in walks with 15.

 

Jackie Gill (Heyworth HS, Heyworth, Ill.), Junior, 1B-P…Hit .241 with no home runs and 10 RBI…2-1 with a 3.00 ERA as a pitcher…In just her second start of the season, she picked up a huge complete game win against Carthage to keep the Vikings alive in the CCIW tournament…4-1 career record with a 2.92 ERA.

 

Gianna Leonetti (Wheaton Warrenville South HS, Wheaton, Ill.), Junior, OF…Hit .314 with one home run and nine RBI…Fourth on the team with 20 runs scored…Tied for second on the team with nine stolen bases…Has never been caught in 16 career stolen base attempts.

 

Kellie Kinsella (University HS, Cooksville, Ill.), Junior, P…3-0 with three saves and a 2.79 ERA…Allowed only 23 hits in 32 2/3 innings and opponents batted just .197 against her…Third on the team with 34 strikeouts...Could be the front runner to take over the closer role in 2009.

 

Kelli Humbert (Dwight HS, Dwight, Ill.), Sophomore, P…3-1 with a 2.04 ERA…10 of 11 appearances were in relief…Could be in line for a spot in the starting rotation.
