2008 HIGHLIGHTS: The Vikings finished eighth in the CCIW Championship with a three day total of 997 (324-317-356)…Vikings finished with a total record of 24-36 and ranked 155th in Division III by Golfstat.com…Andrew Benton, who tied for 25th with a 248 (80-75-93), was the top Augustana finisher at the CCIW tournament…Cole Wells, with a 3rd place 147 (73-74) at Millikin’s Big Blue Fall Classic, recorded the Vikings’ best individual finish.

Andrew Benton (Vernon Hills HS, Vernon Hills, Ill.)…Augustana’s 2008 Most Outstanding Player…Averaged 79.7 strokes over nine rounds of competition…Top Viking finisher at the CCIW championship with a 248 (80-75-93) which tied him for 25th overall…Two top 20 finishes.

 

Eric Johnson (Vernon Hills HS, Vernon Hills, Ill.)…Augustana’s 2007 Most Outstanding and Most Improved Player…2007 CCIW individual champion…2005 Newcomer of the Year…Averaged 82.7 strokes over 10 rounds in 2007-08…Two top 20 finishes.

 

Jeremy Smith (Clinton HS, Clinton, Ill.)…Averaged 82.4 strokes over eight rounds…Recorded the Vikings’ second best individual finish of the season with a 149 (73-76), good for an eighth place tie at the Big Blue Classic.

Cole Wells (Tri-Valley HS, Downs, Ill.), Sophomore…2008: Played only four rounds, but averaged a team best 77.8 strokes…Record the Vikings’ best individual finish with a 3rd place tie at 147 (73-74) at the Big Blue Classic.

 

Zach Kinscherf (Notre Dame HS, Quincy, Ill.), Junior…2008: In three rounds, averaged 83.7 strokes…Top finish was a tie for 20th at the Red Poling Classic with an 85… 2007: Averaged 83.2 strokes over 10 rounds with a low round of 78…Recorded one top 10 finish…Voted team’s Newcomer of the Year.

 

Bryan Hallene (Moline HS, Moline, Ill.), Sophomore…2008: Averaged 82.9 strokes over nine rounds…Finished 37th at the CCIW championship with a 255 (82-85-88)…Top finish was a tie for 14th at the Big Blue Classic with a 151 (76-75).
