2008-09 Season - DePauw hands women's basketball team 58-43 defeat
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Despite a solid all around game from junior Kristen Fox (Ottawa HS, Ottawa, Ill.), the Augustana Vikings dropped a 58-43 non-conference decision to DePauw on Saturday, December 13 in the Carver Center.
Fox led Augustana with 16 points and seven rebounds and had two assists and two steals in 24 minutes of play but it was not enough as DePauw used a huge 41-30 rebounding edge to secure the victory. The visiting Tigers took the lead for good with 12:24 left in the first half when a basket by Tammy Taylor made it 10-9. In the first half the lead would grow as big as 11 points (26-15) before a free throw by Augustana’s Sarah Rachwalski (Stagg HS, Palos Hills, Ill.) made it 26-16 at intermission.
In the second half DePauw built the margin to 17 twice and used 16 points by Emily Marshall on eight of 16 from the floor to secure the win. Cassie Pruzin, Brianna Frigerio and Taylor all had eight points for the visiting Tigers. DePauw’s pressure defense forced 20 Augustana turnovers.
Lani Kasten (Forreston HS, German Valley, Ill.) was also in double figures for Augustana with 13 points as she made six of eight from the floor.
DePauw moved to 5-3 with the win while Augustana fell to 1-6.
