2009 VOLLEYBALL REVIEWYouth was the theme for the 2009 Augustana volleyball program. Second year head coach Janelle Hester’ had a team that had just three seniors and a junior with the rest of the playing time being split between freshmen and sophomores. Predictably, there were some ups and downs as the Vikings finished the year 11-21 overall and 2-5 in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin. | |
Jungnickel earns All-CCIW recognitionAugustana junior outside hitter Courtney Jungnickel has been named to the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin all-conference volleyball team for the 2009 season. Jungnickel, who was an honorable mention selection in both 2007 and 2008, was named to the second team and was the lone Viking honored. | |
Season ends in loss at North CentralA 3-1 loss to second seeded North Central ended the 2009 volleyball season for Augustana on Tuesday, November 3 in Naperville, Illinois in the first round of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin tournament. The Cardinals won the first two sets by scores of 25-20 and 25-16 before the Vikings rallied and took the third set 25-21. | |
Jungnickel all-tournament at IWUAugustana junior outside hitter Courtney Jungnickel earned all-tournament recognition this weekend at Illinois Wesleyan's Barker Chevrolet Classic. However, despite Jungnickel's efforts, the Vikings dropped all four of their matches in the tournament and now stand at 11-20 on the year. |
