2012 VOLLEYBALL REVIEW

The Augustana volleyball team finished the 2012 season with a 20-11 overall record, posting the program's most victories since a 23-12 campaign in 2008. Coach Jamie Walters' Vikings claimed championships at their own Invitational and the Alverno Classic and went unbeaten at the "Pumpkin Bash" at Carver Center, although they lost the title to Wartburg on tiebreaking criteria. Augustana finished 2-5 in CCIW play before pushing Carthage, a 2011 final four participant, to five sets in the CCIW Tournament play-in round.

Leazer named MVP for volleyball

Sophomore outside hitter Emily Leazer put together a tremendous season and was named Augustana’s Most Valuable Player, it was announced at the team’s annual volleyball awards dinner on Sunday, December 9. Leazer helped the Vikings of third year head coach Jamie Walters compile a 20-11 overall record in the 2012 season.

Emily Leazer named to Capital One Academic All-District Team

Sophomore outside hitter Emily Leazer was named to the Capital One Academic All-District team on Thursday, November 8. Leazer, who led the Vikings in kills and service aces in 2012, carries a 3.58 grade point average with majors in math and computer science.

Emily Leazer named to All-CCIW second team

Augustana sophomore outside hitter Emily Leazer has been named to the 2012 All-CCIW second team. Leazer, who finished among the nation's leaders in aces and points per set, helped coach Jamie Walters' Vikings achieve a 20-11 record this season, the program's best since 2008.

Vikings take Carthage to limit in CCIW Tournament

Augustana threw a scare into second seeded Carthage before falling in the first round of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin volleyball tournament on Tuesday, October 30 in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The Vikings battled the whole way before dropping a tough five set match 3-2.
