2010 SOFTBALL REVIEW

Behind an offensive attack that produced three team and two individual school records, the Augustana softball team put together a 31-15 season in 2010 and made their fourth NCAA tournament appearance in the last seven years. Along the way, Viking head coach Kris Kistler won her 300th game at Augustana and senior catcher Karlee Quaritsch earned CCIW Player of the Year honors along with second team All-America and third team academic all-region recognition.

Quaritsch named MVP for softball

Karlee Quaritsch put the finishing touches on a fine Augustana softball career by being named the Vikings’ “Most Valuable Player”, it was announced today. Quaritsch, who played both catcher and third base, was named to the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association NCAA Division III All-American team earlier this week.

Augustana senior Karlee Quaritsch,this year’s CCIW Player of the Year, has added another to her growing list of awards for the 2010 season. Quaritsch has been named to the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association Division III All-America team. She was a second team selection at catcher.

Quaritsch and Sarb named All-Region

Augustana's Karlee Quaritsch and Stephanie Sarb have been named to the 2010 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association Great Lakes All-Region team. Quaritsch earned first team honors at catcher, while Sarb was an at-large selection on the second team.

St. Norbert eliminates Vikings from NCAAs

St. Norbert took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first and never looked back, defeating Augustana by a score of 3-0 in NCAA tournament play Saturday. Green Knight starter Kari Corbeille went the distance, scattering seven Viking hits to keep her team alive in the tournament. Meanwhile, coach Kris Kistler's Vikings see their fine season end with a record of 31-15.
