2012 WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY REVIEW

Led by two-time team MVP Sarahbeth Jones, coach Fred Whiteside's Augustana cross country team brought home a second-place CCIW finish and a ninth-place finish at this year's NCAA Division III Midwest Regional. The Vikings, who were ninth in the final USTFCCCA Midwest Region rankings, also won the College of DuPage and St. Ambrose Invitationals, as well as their only dual meet vs. St. Ambrose.

For the second consecutive season, Augustana senior distance standout Sarahbeth Jones has been named as the Vikings' Most Valuable Runner. She has been the number one performer for veteran head coach Fred Whiteside's team in each of the past two seasons.

Senior Kirstillyn Pohlman wrapped up her cross country career at Augustana by placing 56th in the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional and was the Vikings second finisher in the meet with a time of 23:09 over the 6000 meter course.

Pittman leads way at NCC Invite

Junior Katie Pittman led the way for Augustana at the North Central Invitational in women's cross country on Thursday, November 1 at St. James Farm in Winfield, Illinois. Pittman was the top Vikings' finisher in the three mile race, taking 14th with a time of 18:47 as the team placed fourth in the standings.

Barton leads Vikings to title at College of DuPage

Junior Kristyn Barton's second-place finish led seven Augustana runners in the top 10 as the Vikings won the team title at the College of DuPage Invitational Friday. Barton's time of 18:16.9 over three miles was just 1.7 seconds off the winning time of unattached Mary Kate Jackson.
