Wrestlers finish dual season 11-4Three victories on Saturday, January 21 at the Wheaton Duals in Wheaton, Illinois allowed 30th ranked Augustana to finish the dual meet portion of the 2011-12 wrestling season with an 11-4 overall record. It was the first time since 2003-04 that the Vikings have eclipsed the double figure mark in dual meets. Head coach Eric Juergens' team posted victories over Wheaton (26-15), Manchester (25-16) and Concordia-Wisconsin (36-12). | |
Schraidt pin lifts Vikings past ChicagoFreshman John Schraidt came up with a pin just before the buzzer sounded ending the first period of his 285 pound match against Chicago on Thursday, January 19 in the Carver Center. Schraidt's fall, which came at 2:57 over the Maroons' Jeff Tyburski, proved to be the margin of victory as 30th ranked Augustana defeated Chicago 22-18. | |

Quiros named CCIW "Wrestler of the Week"Augustana senior Alberto Quiros capped off an undefeated week by being named as the "Wrestler of the Week" in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin. Quiros, the Vikings' regular 149 pounder, won all six of his matches last week and finished with a flurry as he won the 149 pound weight class at the Central of Iowa Tournament in Pella, Iowa on Saturday, January 14. |
