2010 Greenville preview

The 2010 version of coach Jim Barnes' Augustana Vikings will make its debut this Friday night at 7:00 against the Greenville Panthers. The game was originally schedule for Saturday at Greenville, but a scheduling conflict moved the game up a day and also changed the venue to Edwardsville High School in Edwardsville, Illinois.

Football Media Day set for Monday, August 16

The Augustana Vikings football team will host its annual "Media Day" on Monday, August 15 at Ericson Field. The festivities will begin at 1:30 p.m. Head coach Jim Barnes and the Augustana players will be available for pictures and interviews. Optimistic Vikings look forward to season

Veteran head coach Jim Barnes is optimistically looking forward to the 2010 football season after his Augustana team went 6-4 overall a year ago and finished 4-3 in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin. The Vikings won three of their last four games and scored a total of 152 points (38.0 per game average) in those last four contests.

Augustana third in football coaches' poll

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin has released its pre-season football coaches' poll with Augustana pegged for a third-place finish. Coach Jim Barnes' Vikings totaled 33 points--including one first place vote--to tie defending co-champ Illinois Wesleyan for third in the poll.
