2011 MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY REVIEWOnce again the Augustana men’s cross country team proved itself to be among the nation’s elite in 2011. The Vikings of veteran head coach Paul Olsen were nationally ranked all season long, climbing as high as 10 th in the NCAA Division III poll at one point in the season. By the end of the season Augustana was ranked 25 th in the final poll, which is conducted by the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association. | |
Tisza earns MVP honor in cross countryAugustana senior Mike Tisza pulled down Most Valuable Runner honors for the 2011 men’s cross country team. Tisza, a team co-captain, had an outstanding campaign which saw him finish as the Vikings top runner in four meets. | |
Tisza places 110th at NCAA meetAugustana senior Mike Tisza wrapped up the cross country portion of his career by placing 110th in the NCAA Division III national cross country meet on Saturday, November 19. The national meet was hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh at Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne, Wisconsin. | |
Vikings finish 25th in final pollAugustana finished in the top 25 in the NCAA Division III national cross country rankings in the final regular season poll. The Vikings finished 7th out of 39 teams in the very tough NCAA Division III Midwest Regional meet hosted at Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Illinois on November 12th. | |
Vikings seventh, Tisza 15th at Midwest RegionalSenior Mike Tisza ran a 25:21.4 over 8,000 meters at Saukie Golf Course Saturday to finish 15th individually and lead the Augustana men's cross country team to a seventh-place finish at the NCAA Midwest Regional. Tisza's performance moves him on to next Saturday's national meet at Oshkosh, Wisconsin. |
