2008-2009 Season - Jordan Henry leads Viking golfers to second place finish at Vike-Fire-Scot Cup
ALEDO, Ill. – The Augustana men’s golf team opened the 2008-09 campaign with the Vike-Fire-Scot Cup at Hawthorn Ridge Golf Course in Aledo, Illinois. Augustana placed second in the three team event, finishing behind Monmouth and ahead of Knox. The Scots won the meet with a team score of 305 while Augustana was second at 311 and Knox finished third at 321. The teams also played a match-play format where Monmouth compiled 15 points, Augustana finished with five, and Knox tallied four.
Freshman Jordan Henry (Erie HS, Erie, Ill.) turned in the top team score for the Vikings in his collegiate debut, shooting a round of 73. Sophomore Kyle Weigand (Leyden HS, Franklin Park, Ill.) was second for Augustana, firing a 76 on the day. Sophomore Cole Wells (Tri-Valley HS, Downs, Ill.) was the third finisher for the Vikings, shooting a round of 78. Junior Zach Kinscherf (Quincy Notre Dame HS, Quincy, Ill.) rounded out the scoring for Augustana’s top group with a total of 84.
Sophomore Ted Keopple (Geneseo HS, Geneseo, Ill.) also turned in a strong round, finishing with a score of 79.
The Vikings will be back on the course on October 4-5 at the Eagle Invitational in Lisle, Illinois.
