For many members, listeners and other friends, the decision to remember
WVIK with the gift of a bequest is a natural extension of their commitment
for WVIK.
Bequests are commitments of a future contribution and can be made while
drafting a will or formulating an estate plan at any time, regardless of
the age of the donor.
We work with donors to blend their vision with WVIK's priorities to create
a designation that is mutually satisfying and beneficial. The language
used in a bequest is crucial to ensuring the achievement of donors' goals.
If you are interested in making a bequest to WVIK, we recommend the
following or similar language:
General support of WVIK, Augustana Public Radio
"I give ___________________ (state the specific property, a dollar amount,
a percentage or the remainder) to WVIK, located at Augustana College in
Rock Island, Illinois, to further the objectives and purposes of WVIK."
Support of a specific program
"I give ___________________ (state the specific property, a dollar amount,
a percentage or the remainder) to WVIK, located at Augustana College in
Rock Island, Illinois, unrestricted, with preference given to the purposes
specified by me in a separate written agreement with WVIK, as that
agreement may be amended from time to time."
Adding the provision that your gift designation is separate from your will
or living trust allows you the freedom to change your designation at some
future date without having to change your will or living trust and incur
additional legal fees.
Please let us know when you have named WVIK in your will, so that we can
take the opportunity to thank you. We encourage you to contact the
Development Office, even if you wish that you and your gift remain
anonymous. We will work closely and confidentially with you and your
advisers to create a gift plan that reflects your personal interests.
