In November 1886 he left Diseflat and moved to ö Hed No. 3. In approximately 1890 he was called into military service. By 1900 he returned to live with his parents. By 1910 his parents are gone, and he is married. The 1910 census has Johan as torpare, and the 1920 census has him a lää (apartment? owner).

He was married to Johanna Evelina Johansdotter between 1900 and 1910 in Sweden. Johanna Evelina Johansdotter was born on 11 Jan 1877 in Syllinge, Veddige, Halland, Sweden.⁽¹⁶⁸⁾ Johanna was born to Johan B. Eriksson, arbetare, and Anna Brita Johansdotter, 28 years old, of Syllinge No. 4. She was their first child. They had been married 9 months, 13 days. By 1920 her father Johan Bernt Eriksson came to live with Johanna and her family. Johan Johansson and Johanna Evelina Johansdotter had the following children:
