65 i. Berndt Johansson⁽¹⁰⁷⁾ was born on 10 Mar 1857 in Drared, Veddige, Halland, Sweden. ⁽¹⁰⁸⁾ Mother was pigan Inger, age 28. Witnesses were wife Annd Br. Andersdotter of No. 1 Drared, Joh. B. Berndtsson and wife Br. Andersdotter of No 2 Srä (sp?) and Andr. Andersson of No 1 of the same place. No father is given for this illegitimate child. He was baptized on 13 Mar 1857 in Veddige, Halland, Sweden. He died on 17 Apr 1873 in Veddige, Halland, Sweden. ⁽¹⁰⁹⁾ The cause of death was halsfulss (?), which is a throat condition, possibly tonsilitis. His age was given as 16 years, 1 month, 7 days. The last name comes from the death record. Berndt came to live with his uncle Olaus in Drared around 1861. However, Olaus and his family moved to America by degrees, and so in 1872 Berndt moved in with Johan Gustav Svensson in Vettnet. Perhaps this is when he adopted the surname Johansson. Berndt is listed in that household account as a fosterson. Unfortunately he died shortly thereafter.
