FIFTH GENERATION

18. Lars Helgeson was born on 16 May 1796 in Nö, Halland, Sweden. (79)(80) (81) Lars was born at Stora Kö (?). Presumably he was baptized. Witnesses included Olof Hansson (?) form Kö (?), Bengt Olsson and Tobias Heljesson from Nö, Karin Heljesdotter from Berg, Britta Andersdotter and Bengta Andersdotter from Stora Kö. He died on 9 Jul 1866. The handmade document Graf Skreft contains verses 3 and 4 of song 477 from the old Swedish song book. Roughly translated, these verses are:

Forgive me for what I've broken, O Jesus
Be kind to me, and with the blood you shed, smooth out our sins.
Stengthen, O Lord, the weak. Make the strife easy and short
And comfort those who complain when I go away.

Sooner or later from the world we wander, each and every one of us.
Bless those at the last journey, that they will travel with hope and love.
Bless them, which hope owns in the humble breast.
And them within their camp, who speak of peace and comfort. Variant spellings include Helliesson, Heliesson and Heljesson. An inflyttade record (apparently it's incoming instead of outgoing, but the writing is very small and hard to read) has Lars Heljesson born in Nö (?) and coming from Gö. Lars first appears in the household accounts of 1817-1818 in Veddige, Telnebacka, Kullagå. Lars lived with his wife in vestra Hed, as an å of 7/24 of a farm. In 1836 the family moved to Loberg where Lars was an å with 1/2 of a farm. In the household accounts of 1854-1860 he is listed as undantag under the family of his oldest son Carl. The family farm has evidently been split half and half between the two oldest sons, Carl and Henrik. He was married to Stina Greta Carlsdotter on 17 Nov 1822 in Veddige, Halland, Sweden. At the time of marriage, Lars and Stina were from vestra Hed. Lars was a Tjanste (lowly?) farmhand and Stina was a maidservant.

19. Stina Greta Carlsdotter was born on 7 Feb 1802 in vestra Hed, Veddige, Halland, Sweden.(13) The handmade document Graf Skreft has birth and death dates, but seems to have the arithmetic of length of life not quite right. She was baptized on 8 Feb 1802. Men witnesses were Sven Andersson and Hå Paulsson i vestra Hed. Women witnesses were Johanna Bö from Kä and Bö Bö from vestra Hed. She died on 6 Apr 1864 in Loberg, Veddige, Halland, Sweden. Age at death is given as 62 years, 2 months, 19 days. The handmade document Graf Skreft lists the name as Stina magreta Carlingnus doter. Parish records show that farmhand Berndt left Veddige for Kongsbacka, a stad in Halland, in an entry dated October 14, 1856. Andreas became of member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Batavia, Illinois, on December 10, 1882. He was a communicant of that church.
