Augustana Badminton Club
The Augustana Badminton Club is a recreational/athletic club that meets twice a week to play badminton. Anyone is welcome to play; no experience necessary.

Augustana Cheerleading
The purpose of the Augustana Cheerleading Squad is to promote and uphold team spirit, to display good sportsmanship, to support good relations in the community, and between teams and squads during events. The Augustana Fencing Club is a recreational group in which the primary focus is to learn and use the basic skills of fencing through instruction, practice, and bouting. No experience is necessary. Crew at Augustana is a club sport. Augustana Tae Kwon Do Club
The purpose of this club is to educate students on Korean martial art, Tae Kwon Do. This club is run by student Black Belts, and accepts students from any martial art background. However, students who have no knowledge of martial arts are welcome. Classes are held three times a week for an hour, and a variety of different black belt instructors teach the class, to keep variety in the club. The basic blocks, kicks, and forms of Tae Kwon Do are taught, however, there is no contact/sparring allowed.

The S.A.A.C. is a NCAA mandated organization run by a faculty athletic representative and Thomas Schmulbach. Students must be current members of a varsity sport team. The Advisory board will consist of one student representative and one alternate from each of the college’s 19 sports teams. It attempts to enhance the experience of student-athletes by promoting student-athlete opportunity, by protecting student-athlete welfare, and by supporting a positive student-athlete image.

Augustana Web Guild
This group has two main directives: to educate the campus community in the tools of web development and uses of the Internet, and to provide students with experience in web development and exposure to entrepreneurial skills. Membership is for novice as well as experienced web designers. The group holds seminars for the campus community in topics such as content design, PhotoShop, WYSIWYGs and HTML. The group also operates as a web development company, bringing together students with many different skills and interests.

SAGA Literary Magazine
Augustana's biannual literacy and art magazine is edited by a student staff and pub-lishes student art, prose and poetry. Deadlines are at the end of the fall and winter terms. SAGA annually awards more than $1000 in prizes for the best submissions. Activities include publication of two issues and an award ceremony.

WAUG 570 AM
The student-run radio station broadcasts carrier-current on 570 AM to residence hall rooms and the College Center. It is available in Erickson and Westerlin on 97.9 FM. Students are invited to become involved in the many aspects of radio broadcasting, from production and announcing to producing a show. WAUG generally features an "alternative music" format with over one hundred students work-ing in paid and unpaid positions each year. Academic credit is available for radio production. Activities include broadcasting home sports events, trivia contests and promotions.

WVIK 90.3 FM
Augustana's National Public Radio affliate serves the Illinois-Iowa community 24 hours a day at 90.3 FM. A professional staff prog-rams classical music, news and public affairs, as well as jazz and specialty shows. WVIK also operates a reading service for the blind involving volunteers from the college and the community. A number of Augustana students are involved in the publicly financed operation, principally as reporters.

Andreen Hall Council programs activities for residents of the hall. It also acts as the hall’s governing body, seeking to provide a unified and friendly atmosphere. Erickson Hall Council provides quality educational and social activities for residents of Erickson Hall. The Augustana Student Government Association reflects and advances the fulfillment of student needs in the academic and social com--munity. The purpose is to uphold the ideals of this National Honor Society. We do different activities throughout the year that include service, leadership, and scholarship. Our national service project has the theme "reading is leading" and we work to emphasize the importance of reading by holding a trick-or-read party in October, by reading at libraries, etc. We have also made Valentine's Day cards for retirement communities, we have held socials, and we work each year to pick the next year's group of students.

Phi Beta Kappa, Zeta Chapter of Illinois
This national academic honor society recognizes scholarly achievement, character, integrity and independence. To be eligible, a student must have a minimum of 90 credits in liberal arts and sciences, have completed a major (or its equivalent) in a "liberal" discipline with at least 17 credits in upper-division courses, and be in the upper 20% of the graduating class. Students meeting these minimums are care-fully screened in their graduation year, and approximately half of those eligible are elected. The Augustana Symphonic Band (formerly Augustana Concert Band) is the oldest musical organization on campus, created in 1874. Scandinavian Club
The Scandinavian Club is a student/faculty organization which encourages the study of Scandinavian languages and culture. Activities include a yearly visit to the 19th-Century Swedish settlement in Bishop Hill, participation in the Midwest Scandinavian Retreat in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and numerous on-campus events. They meet approximately once a week to discuss upcoming activities. Over the past year, they've gone on trips to Scandinavian festivities and held festivals of their own. They held two dinner meetings to outline possibilities for Scandinavian Studies majors.

Since 1965, the Augustana Spanish Club has given students the opportunity to practice the Spanish language and to explore Spanish, Latin American, and Hispanic-American culture in a non-academic setting. Named in honor of the famous 19th century geologist and Augustana College professor, J.A. Udden, the Udden Geology Club meets informally each week for presentations and lectures in topics of geological interest by students, faculty, and visiting lecturers. In addition, the club sponsors local geology field trips on Saturdays as well as three major field trips each year. Recent trips have traveled to places such as southeast Missouri, southern Illinois, northern Wisconsin and Michigan, Minnesota, Death Valley, central Arizona, and Big Bend National Park. Young Life
Young Life is a national Christian outreach organization that focuses on teaching adoles-cents about the Gospel. Augustana students are trained to hold weekly clubs for high school students. Activities include leading Bible studies at the high schools, taking high school students to an overnight Young Life camp in the summer, and other contact work-or just attending the weekly meetings for fun, fellowship and spiritual growth.

Alpha Phi Omega is a national coeducational service fraternity dedicated to the principles of leadership, friendship, and service. APO has chapters on more than 300 campuses and is the largest college based service organization in the world. Dance Marathon
Dance Marathon raises money for the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital, where the donation funds anything from Nintendo games to new Pediatric waiting rooms. This hospital serves children throughout the Quad Cities like many of our Dance Marathon kids.

Epsilon Sigma Alpha International (ESA)
Epsilon Sigma Alpha is an international service sorority, which involves many service projects and the social aspects of a sorority. ESA has two international projects; St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Easter Seals. Around the Quad Cities, ladies of the Psi Theta Chapter are very involved with helping the Children’s Therapy Center and Friendship Manor. Annually, a Halloween party at the Children’s Therapy Center is thrown for all the children. With an atmosphere of mutual support and companionship, membership in ESA provides a variety of fun, educational, and exciting social opportunities.

Community Health Outreach Organization (ACHOO)
The mission of ACHOO provides health awareness and promote outreach to both students of Augustana College and the surrounding community. This is done through community service projects as well as promoting the sponsorship of programs for youth who are members of groups under-represented. Best Buddies
Best Buddies is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships and integrated employment. At the college level, students are paired with citizens in the community with disabilities, in hopes of establishing a lasting friendship. Throughout the year, the members of Best Buddies get together for group outings and various activities.

Global Affect
Global Affect exists for students who have an interest in the environment, whether it is helping to preserve it or to just enjoy doing activities within it. Their purpose is to work toward environmental preservation in a sustainable ecosystem through education and non-violent action. The organization helps with recycling for the residence halls, has campus/community clean-ups, and brings environmental issue awareness to the campus. Members also go on spelunking, wall climbing, and camping trips.

Latinos Unidos attempts to both celebrate and educate the campus about the Latino/Hispanic culture. The group is also actively involved in the local Quad Cities community. PRISM, formerly known as Augustana Gay/Straight Alliance, is geared toward celebrating and bringing awareness to the diversity of Augustana campus and its surrounding community, especially in the terms of sexual orientation and gender expression.
