Welcome to the Augustana College Dance Marathon Home Page. Dance Marathon was established at Augustana College in 2001 to raise funds for charitable organizations. Dance Marathon is now formally associated with the Children's Miracle Network, an alliance of hospitals dedicated to providing premier health and wellness care for children and their families.
The Dance Marathon at Augustana College is an annual event to benefit the University of Iowa Children's Hospital in Iowa City, IA. As the largest student-run philanthropic event during the school year, over 500 students and faculty stay awake and on their feet to raise money and awareness for the Children's Miracle Network and to celebrate the lives of the wonderful children we work to support. Musicians, performers, and most importantly, miracle families (families who have overcome a child's illness, families who are continuing the fight against their child's illness, and those who have lost a child to their illness) come to inspire the student dancers during this exhilarating event. Dancers are faced with both mental and physical challenges in an effort to symbolize the obstacles faced by the children treated at the University of Iowa Children's Hospital.
