The Short Goodbye. Students say farewell to their parents and families.

Welcome Week Kick-off (students only; required). Students meet their peer mentors and get acquainted with their peer groups.

Parent advising meetings (parents only). Parents meet with their student's first-year faculty advisors.

3:15-4 p.m. 

Parent reception (parents only). Join President Steve Bahls and his wife Jane for brief comments, followed by informal conversation and refreshments. Parent participation in Welcome Week concludes after the reception.

3:30-3:45 p.m. 

Your First “A” (required). Members of the Class of 2019 will gather on the football field to take their first photo together in the shape of the Augustana “A.”

Charles D. Lindberg Stadium

4-5:15 p.m.

Getting the Most Out of College (students only; required). The program will feature, Michael Miller, a nationally recognized speaker and expert on the collegiate student experience. The program will focus on ways new students can get started “on the right foot” by taking action early.

Centennial Hall

5:30-6:45 p.m.

Dinner with peer group

The Gerber Center for Student Life Dining Room

7-8 p.m.

Residence hall student meetings (required). Students return to their residence halls for meetings with Residential Life staff. Students should be at the residence hall lobby, lounge or designated area by 7 p.m.

Assigned residence hall

7-8 p.m.

Commuter students (required). Commuter students will continue orientation at a meeting with college deans.

The Gerber Center for Student Life, Gävle Room

8:15 p.m. 

Office of Student Life Extravaganza (required). Upper-class students and Public Safety will offer advice about social life in college, then the Student Life Programming Board’s annual performer’s showcase will feature hypnotist Dale K.

Centennial Hall

10 p.m.

Office of Student Life concert. Students can continue networking with peers while enjoying a live performance. Refreshments will be served.
