Fall Connection Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013

Breakfast, Center for Student Life Dining Room.

9:30 a.m.

Chapel Singers rehearsal, Ascension Chapel, Founders Hall. Anyone who loves to sing is encouraged to come to this rehearsal of the Chapel Singers, who will sing together just once, at the 10:30 a.m. service.

10:30 a.m.

Ecumenical worship service, Ascension Chapel. This lively service which begins the school year is thoroughly ecumenical and open to everyone. Included are special music, Holy Communion, and a sermon by Chaplain Richard Priggie.

11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Lunch, Center for Student Life Dining Room.

1-1:45 p.m.

Augie Reads panel, Centennial Hall (required). Faculty from a diverse set of academic disciplines will open the conversation about Never Let Me Go in Centennial Hall. In doing so, they’ll help you think about possible avenues for exploration of the book’s key ideas and issues.

2-3:15 p.m.

Augie Reads discussion groups, assigned meeting room (required). You will move to classrooms to discuss Never Let Me Go with your fall term LSFY 101: Rhetoric and the Liberal Arts professor and classmates. This will be your first college class and an opportunity to get a taste of academic life before all classes officially start on Monday.

3:30-4:45 p.m.

Making the Most of your College Experience, Centennial Hall (required). This session will serve as the culmination of the Fall Connection program. The program will feature Michael Miller, a nationally recognized speaker and expert on the collegiate student experience. The program will focus on important ways new students can get started "on the right foot." New students also will receive the traditional Augustana pin as a symbol of joining the Augustana community.

Catholic Mass, Ascension Chapel, Founders Hall.

5:30-7 p.m.

Dinner, Center for Student Life Dining Room.

Theatre Pizza Mixer, Potter Theatre, Bergendoff Hall of Fine Arts. If you are interested in being involved in theatre productions, either onstage or behind the scenes, you are invited to this informational meeting and pizza party. This is an opportunity for new theatre students to meet returning students and faculty and to learn more about upcoming production opportunities.
