Tuesday 23rd May 1865 I was up bright & Early this morning Bathed all over and went to Market. but returned without buying a cents worth perfectly disgusted with Extortionate prices Eggs 200 pr dozen chicks 300 pa Berries 75 & 1.00 pr qt milk 30eh [each?] Had a call frm [from] Henry Keener and Frank Mills & Self returned the same this evening Besides walking around considerable Generals Private Hd qns [headquarters] moved today to corner of Conception & St. Anthony Streets 24th Wed This has been a beautiful day I rced [received] two letters of March to day From Home & Chicago. On 22nd mth [month] I rced one letter from Father Mother & Bro G.H.L. I am not very well today Harry Huddleston is Back & called
