| The Inter-Sorority Council was founded in the fall of 1929 as the governing body of the Augustana sororities. The council at the time of its founding consisted of two officers, a President and a Secretary-Treasurer; 2 representatives of each of the sororities; two faculty members; and dean of women. The council controlled regulations for sorority rushing and pledging. A Vice President position was added later. Any misdemeanors on the part of the sororities or rushees of the sororities was brought up before the council and if necessary the council would refer the matter to the faculty. The Inter-Sorority Council was disbanded in the late 1970s, appearing for the last time in the 1977 Rockety-I. |
The Inter-Sorority Council collection is small, consisting only of minutes from the council meetings from January 1934 through May 1938. |
