Materials—Support and enrich
each student’s learning with the most educationally valuable resources in the
most appropriate formats.
- Work with faculty to determine additions to the collection that support Senior Inquiry. (All bibliographers)
- In consultation with the faculty, continue transition from paper to electronic format for many of our periodicals. (Mary)
- Investigate acquisition of additional electronic reference materials. (Connie)
- Develop a collection recovery plan. (Mary and Jamie)
- Assess patrons’ needs and quality of our collection-building efforts by analyzing system reports of circulation, interlibrary loan, WorldCat Collection analysis and I-Share universal borrowing data. (Mary)
- Investigate buying rather than borrowing selected books requested through interlibrary loan. (Mary)
- Discuss textbooks on reserve, higher fines for ILL, selective control of what may be ILLed, etc. (Connie)
- Preservation of selected materials; migrate from obsolete to new formats when appropriate. (Sarah and Jamie)
- Develop a collection development policy for Special Collections. (Sarah)

Organization—Make the
library simple to use; describe and organize knowledge and information so that
users can obtain resources in the most efficient manner.

Service—Deliver
coordinated, consistent, and high quality service that is responsive to the
Augustana College community and to other library users.
- Revise and re-execute the general satisfaction survey. (Amanda)
- Continue to collaborate with faculty and ITS staff regarding the use of Moodle and related copyright concerns. (Christine)
- Address the library’s role in the implementation of the new print management system. (Carla)
- Analyze our weekend reference hours and staffing. (Anne and Carla)
- Investigate opportunities for collaboration with the Reading/Writing Center. (Connie)
- Review library liaisons to interdisciplinary academic programs. (Anne)
- Implement chat reference service using Meebo. (Anne)

Teaching—Collaborate with
the faculty to teach each Augustana student to locate, evaluate, and use
information effectively.
- Review the integration of information literacy into upper-level curriculum planning, including Senior Inquiry. (all bibliographers)
- Review tools for assessment of student learning. (Connie)
- Revise the current information literacy test. (Connie, Anne, Christine, and Carla)
- Enhance librarians’ teaching through observation and mutual assessment. (Connie)
- Implement the revised LSFY matrix. (all bibliographers)

- Continue integration of Special Collections into courses. (Jamie and Sarah)
- Develop a Friday Conversation about integrating writing and information literacy across the curriculum. (Connie)
- Continue to integrate RefWorks into library instruction and offer additional training. (Anne)
- Mentor the Reading/Writing Center tutors regarding the research process. (Connie)

Place—Develop
the library not only as a repository of resources or a gateway to information,
but as a place where faculty, staff, and students communicate and collaborate
intellectually, culturally, and socially; enhance the library to best support
Augustana’s goals of academic excellence and student growth.
- Work with Office of Safety to implement campus-wide safety manual. (Carla and Rita)
- As part of Augustana’s strategic goal to enhance existing facilities: Continue to analyze and improve the use of space based on extended patron counts, satisfaction survey results, Reading/Writing Center needs and recommendations of the Space Committee. (Anne, Connie, and Mary)
- Remove shelving on 1st floor to increase quiet study areas; remove shelving on 4th floor to reduce crowding near Circulation desk. (Mary, Amanda, and Christine)
- Investigate options to alleviate the spatial inadequacies of Special Collections. (Jamie and Sarah)
- Test for problem areas and make improvements in wireless access throughout the library. (Carla and Circulation staff)
- Continue to integrate library displays and events into the campus culture. (Margi and all staff)
- Host an after-hours social event for students. (Amanda and Anne)
- Pursue acoustical improvements of 5th floor. (Carla)
- Build on the success of the Edible Book Festival by planning and hosting a second festival. (Mary and Margi)

Community—Contribute to
the development of the Augustana College community by participating in its
curricular and co-curricular activities, and in its connections to the greater
community.
- Represent the Library in coordination of Celebration of Learning. (Anne, Jamie, and new librarian)
- Consider possibilities for celebrating faculty publications and teaching. (Carla and Margi)
- Continue to coordinate information literacy with secondary schools. (Connie)
- Collaborate with other faculty to plan and promote the Lit Wits series. (Margi)
- Coordinate the selection of the “Augie Reads” first-year book. (Margi)
- Promote voter registration. (Sarah and Christine)

Communication—
Inform the college community what we do and why; engage the members of that
community in using library services, thereby promoting the integration of
intellectual inquiry, academic excellence, and respect for diversity into the
fabric of Augustana College.
- Continue the library’s blog to communicate with the Augustana community. (Amanda)
- Update Library Annual Report. (Carla)
- Maintain online Library bulletin board listing names and photos of our student employees. (Christine and Amanda)
- Investigate possibility of library award/scholarship. (Margi)
- Develop future librarians’ interest group. (Carla and Connie)

Professional Development—Participate
in professional communities and activities in order to strengthen the services
of the library and their support of academic excellence.
- Attend Oberlin Group of Libraries Directors’ meeting. (Carla)
- Attend online and in-person professional seminars, including those not specific to librarianship. (Various librarians)
- Attend numerous consortia committee and membership meetings, including CARLI (IL academic libraries), local system, OCLC, and others. (Various librarians and staff)
- Hold office and serve on boards and committees of several library consortia, as above. (Various Management Team members)
