Trio members are Deborah Dakin, viola; Janina Ehrlich, cello; and Robert Elfline, piano.

Program

Divertimento in C (1781) Johann Vanhal (1739-1813)

Serenade in F Minor, Op. 73 Robert Kahn (1865-1951)

Pause

Trio — Gerald Cohen (b. 1960)
Slow, mysterious
Fast
Slow, calm
(Played without pause)

The trio was formed in 2010 and takes its name from the Hebrew "Tikkun olam," meaning “world repair” or “to heal the world”. In modern times the term has become associated with the concepts of social justice, protection for the disadvantaged and freedom for all.

"We seek to present our audiences with programs that comfort the soul and challenge the mind. Our combination of instruments is rather unusual; in fact there are few pieces written for this ensemble. We are always in search of music by contemporary composers and have begun commissioning works from composers all over the world," said Ehrlich, professor of music at Augustana.

Dakin is an assistant professor of music and Elfline is an associate professor of music.
