Recycling batteries and e-waste
The Campus Sustainability Committee and Global Affect encourage individuals to dispose of household batteries and e-waste responsibly.
Batteries
Global Affect collects batteries annually. Also, local battery vendors (i.e. Interstate All Battery Center in the Rock Valley Shopping Center) collect household batteries for recycling.
Electronic Waste
E-waste, such as televisions and computers, should not be disposed of in the trash due to their heavy metals. Rock Island residents may take their e-waste to the Electronic Demanufacturing Facility operated by the Waste Commission of Scott County.
Other Household Hazardous Waste
Rock Island County sponsors a free annual drop-off of unlimited quantities of household hazardous waste every autumn. In addition, materials may be dropped off at the Waste Commission of Scott County. For more information, visit the Rock Island County Waste Management Agency website.
