Flexible Spending Accounts
Augustana College offers medical and dependent care flexible spending accounts. This benefit is administered by Butler Benefits Service, Inc. FSAs (Flexible Spending Accounts) allow employees to set aside pre-tax earnings to be used for eligible medical or dependent care expenses. These amounts are deducted from your pay and deposited into one or both of the reimbursement accounts.
Employees do not have to be enrolled in the Augustana Health Care plan in order to participate in the flexible benefits plan. Eligibility: New employees are eligible the first of the month following the date of hire. The minimum amount of election is $100 and the maximum follows IRS maximum allowable rates.
Employees may change the annual election amount only during open enrollment (generally August of each year). In addition, employees may enroll or change their election after experiencing one of the following qualifying events: marriage, divorce, birth, adoption, death, or loss of coverage elsewhere.
For full information on qualifying conditions or changing your deduction, contact the HR Office.
Claims can be made using the debit card received upon enrollment or with a paper claim form available below. Full information on this plan is available in the Summary Plan description.
