Internship profile: Johnson Lambert LLP
February 04, 2014
Jennifer Evans' work as an audit intern rewarded her with a post-graduation job.
Evans is a senior from DeKalb, Ill., majoring in accounting, business management, and French. She had taken an audit course at Augustana in spring term, right before her internship.
"This seamless transition helped me directly apply what I had learned in class to the real life work," she said.
So when she arrived at Johnson Lambert LLP in Arlington Heights, Ill., she worked on audits alongside the full-time staff.
"I was treated as a full-time employee and was given the responsibilities as such," she said. "I worked on testing cash and investments, performing analytics as well as working directly with clients to perform the audit.
"One of the major highlights of my internship was being able to interact directly with the clients. I was able to be on-site for two of my audits. This allowed me to work on my accounting skills, as well as my interpersonal skills," she said. "Also, the golf lessons were pretty awesome!"
Not only did her internship affirm her career plans, it accelerated it. Johnson Lambert LLP extended her a full-time offer to work there after she graduates, which she accepted.
"What surprised me most about my internship was that I had the opportunity to work with almost everyone in the office" Evans said. "I even was able to meet the managing partner of Johnson Lambert LLP, Debbie Lambert! Everyone made me feel like a part of the Johnson Lambert family right from the beginning. This made my decision to accept the full-time offer extremely easy."
