Senior LeMay is a vocal performance and theatre major, so her internship as a singer at the Midwest Institute of Opera was just the ticket.
She needed to come fully prepared for performances and memorize written translations. There were rehearsals and staging. Her vocal technique was polished and diction was coached.
"I have taken classes and voice lessons here at Augustana and both helped further prepare me for this internship experience," said LeMay, whose hometown is Peculiar, Mo.
She said getting a performance repertoire and overall experience, working with professionals, and meeting new people were the highlights of her internship
"I know now where I stand as a classical singer and I wish to pursue more experience in the future," she said.
She said she was surprised at the amount of work and time that went into the internship, "but it was definitely rewarding."
LeMay would recommend this internship to other Augustana students? "This is a great program for any person looking for performance experience!" she added.
