Welcome

The Augustana Center for the Study of Ethics was established to enrich the teach-ing-learning experiences for Augustana students by providing greater opportunities for them to meet and interact with community leaders and to encourage discussion of issues of ethical significance through campus programs and community outreach.

The Center is funded for a three-year demonstration period by a grant from the National Automobile Dealers Charitable Foundation and by the generous financial support of members of the community. Contributors include the following (listed in alphabetical order):
  • Albert J. and Lynne DeSimone
  • Douglas M. and Nancy E. Hultquist
  • Daniel E. and Ruth J. Lee
  • Paul and Janet Moen
  • Deann R. and Thomas W. Thoms
The work of the Center is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of Augus-tana faculty, students and administrators. Current members of the board are as follows:
  • Heidi Storl, chair
  • Dan Lee
  • Mike Nolan
  • Pr. Richard Priggie
  • Craig VanSandt
  • Dara Wegman-Geedey
  • Theresa Wenzel
  • Jessica Westfall
The board is assisted in its work by a twenty-seven-member community advisory committee chaired by Rita K. Aronson, M.D., an Augustana graduate who is affiliated with Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialists in Davenport.

Dan Lee, whose teaching responsibilities since joining the Augustana faculty in 1974 have included courses in ethics, serves as the Center's director.
