Close to 400 employees and spouses participated in the Guiding Life biometric testing program on November 28-30th. The Human Resources staff received positive feedback from many of you on the ease of participation, painless blood draw, and quick and efficient process our partners from Guiding Life brought to the screening. This program has been the culmination of many months of planning and involved members of both the Benefits Committee and Wellness Team who brought this from idea to reality.
If you did not participate in the on-campus screening, it’s not too late to get involved. During the month of December, interested employees and spouses can complete the same biometric testing at a local lab facility. This screening will be free to participants in the Augustana Health Plan. Just contact Teri Carton at x7352 and she can provide the information you will need.
What’s next? Within 3-4 weeks, all participants will receive their test results via U.S. Postal Service to their home address. Guiding Life encourages all to share this information with a primary care physician for continued follow-up. In early January, those that are participating in the program will receive information on logging into the Guiding Life portal which will be personalized to reflect your biometric test results as well as the health assessment you completed on the ipod touch at the screening.
Many of us will receive a phone call from a wellness coach if our test results reveal issues where a follow-up with a physician is recommended. Participating in this call is completely voluntary. Additionally, participants will be able to interact with a wellness coach within a variety of offered programs — more details on this component will be coming soon!
A hearty thank you to all who helped bring this program to campus as well as the enthusiastic response of our campus community.
