Hi! My name is Katrina Jensen, and I just finished my sophomore year at Augustana. I am double majoring in communication sciences & disorders and psychology. I am also involved in a number of activities on campus including playing my French horn in Symphonic Band and Symphony Orchestra, Handbell Choir, Campus Ministries, Clogustana, Admissions Ambassadors and Peer Mentors. This summer, I am traveling to Singapore and Thailand where I will be participating in a volunteer abroad program. I hope that you will join me on my journey and share in all of my new, exciting experiences!

I’m a Local Celebrity!
It’s the day we’ve all been waiting for- I started working at my volunteer placement! If were not aware or have simply forgotten, my volunteer assignment was to teach English at a local public school. There was one other person assigned to work at the school from my group- his name is Joon and he [...]

Public Transportation Extravaganza!
If you’ve never been on an old bus, fast subway, sky train, water taxi, and tuk-tuk all in one day, I highly suggest it. Today was our public transportation training day. We learned how to use the many various forms of public transportation in Bangkok which was a lot of fun but totally exhausting. The [...]

Hello again! Just got home from a night out shopping at a night market. It was so much fun! After all of our activities today (more on that later), we had a free evening to do whatever we wanted, so another girl named Maggie and I decided we wanted to hunt down the local pool [...]

The Singapore Life: Eat and Shop!
Yesterday’s missions: Accomplished! After a nap yesterday, I headed out to explore Singapore (Anyone seen “Up”? The wilderness must be explored! Caw, caw! Raargh!) I got some money changed at my hotel, which was very convenient. Armed with a handful of Singaporean cash and coins, I headed off to the nearest bus stop to begin [...]

It’s fun to stay at the YMCA!
Good morning from Singapore!!! It’s 11:30 am in sunny Singapore and I’m doing great! My sushi mission in the airport failed, but I was successful in exchanging $20 for 1,851 yen. The money was so pretty, I didn’t want to spend it, but I finally decided on buying a bottled green tea (the entire bottle [...]
