It’s been a while since I’ve written a blog, but you can blame unruly professors and inconsistent class schedules for that…plus a little rain and even (possibly!) some snow!
A few weeks ago, we went to Vienna and I have a funny story about that. We decided to overnight in Berlin before our flight to Vienna (which was at 6AM!) to make things easier. Status? Fail! We arrived in Berlin and I took care of the hostel reservations, and even figuring out the entire U-Bahn stops in order to get to the right area. I did, however, neglect to look up directions from the station to the hostel. Traveling in a group, and knowing how groups can be very difficult, I decided not to waste time aimlessly wandering the streets of downtown Berlin looking for an cheap, oversized dormitory, basically. In an effort of desparation, I walked into the first establishment I could find to ask for directions: A Rolls Royce Dealership….and no, they didn’t make me test drive anything.
Overall, Vienna was a lot of fun, though. Sure, we had some issues, though. The apartment was amazing (Apartmentsapart.com) — check it out if you want a luxury stay in a major city! However, the U-bahn system in Vienna was next to impossible to figure out with little sleep…but we survived and returned unscathed (for the most part).
Having done a ridiculous amount of traveling this term, I’ve developed a new theory: Traveling brings out people’s true colors. You could live with somebody and spend everyday with them, but you will never truly know them until you travel with him/her. Traveling isn’t just getting from A to B, but rather…getting from A to B with complications. I think that is the real definition of traveling: Getting from place to another and experiencing everything in-between. Maybe that’s why it’s so fun, eh?
Until the next blog — later!
