This is Louie here from Wittenberg, Germany! We have no been here about three days. We’re just starting to get settled in and adjusted. Every day, it’s starting to feel more and more like home. The weather has been beautiful here, as well!
On Friday, we had our orientation at the Sprachinstitut here in Wittenberg. This is where we will be taking classes for the next 8-9 weeks. The staff is very efficient, very friendly, and very willing to help. The institut is relatively small, as is the city. Wittenberg, although small, has a charming quality about it. Everything you need is only a 5-10 minute walk away and so scenic. Darn!
Yesterday we went to Park Worlitz. It’s about 30-40 minutes from Wittenberg and is kind of like a national park in the USA. It was exceptionally beautiful, which is probably evidenced by the some 70 pictures I took while there. We spent several hours that just walking around. It was very soothing and a nice escape from that “have to be doing something every 2 minutes” feeling.
Today is a free day–so that is why I am writing the American public from an internet cafe. Having no plans is kind of nice!
Tomorrow, bright and early at 7am, we’re off to Berlin! I have a feeling we may be back, though. A day trip to Berlin just doesn’t do such an amazing city justice!
Until next time, USA, auf wiedersehen!
