This is my first blog ever so bear with me, I’m really trying! But I cant believe it, only three more weeks to Brazil! It is becoming a little bit surreal. It’s already getting a little crazy trying to get everything together, including sunglasses, shoes, shirts, sunscreen, and we’ve been told to back duck tape? I’ll just have to wait and see, but they say it may help.
I learned a lot in the first five weeks at Augie about the culture and history of Brazil. All in all, it sounds like an amazing place with numerous opportunities to explore. I had three Brazil term classes including: World literature, history and art. Although, very different disciplines, I was astounded by the magic that is Brazil and the ability of each to connect one another. Wether it was reading a modernist manifesto or creating a Carnival mask, my first five weeks introduced and created excitement for the next five weeks to come.
I traveled abroad in Spain when I was a junior in high school and thought it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I had so many opportunities to explore a new culture, and never truly believed that would be topped. From the first five weeks of Brazil term, I know I was very mistaken. The beaches, samba, soccer games and markets, all shimmer in my mind as I wait in the cold Minnesota winter to take off January 10th!
More to come soon!
Imagining the beach already!
