The worldwide Augustana College experience

Ready for the Land Down Under

I’m sitting in my room trying to figure out what to pack, as it is about two days until I embark on the journey to Sydney, Australia!  Many thoughts are running through my head about this new upcoming experience, things like whether my internship will be good, what activities I plan on doing, how much money I plan on spending …. and I realize that I need to take everything as they come.

I hope I pack everything I need.

I will be in Australia for roughly two months, so hopefully I am not missing anything (as I look around).  However, throughout this experience I know I will come back a changed man, hopefully for the better, but for now I have to take it one step at a time.  I’m thinking to myself that I should not be afraid to do anything; this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for students to travel abroad to Sydney.  It’s also an opportunity for the international internship experience, and since I am a senior, a job would be in the near future.  Taking in ALL that I can about this whole experience  should help me develop what I am or what I want to be.

In the mean time, be sure to check up on me, as I do plan on participating in many activities and experiencing numerous events that I may not have had the opportunity to do before…  I can list them out, but that would ruin the surprise.  I can post some pictures, so that will be fun.

  1. Way to go, Brett! Hope that the flights went well for you, and that you are quickly orienting to Sydney. Keep us posted on what is happening on the internship as well!

    Cheers! Karen Petersen
