G’day. My name is Simon Granner, and I am a junior at Augustana majoring in marketing and finance. From January 7 to March 7 I will be participating in the Australian Internship Program in Sydney, Australia. I will be working as a full-time intern for a public relations company called Red Agency. Throughout my trip I will be immersing myself in the Australian culture and recording my adventures and experiences here.
The Australian Dream
We are back in America. It is hard to believe that just over a week ago 26 of us were half way across the world experiencing the most beautiful scenery and having the most surreal adventure for 2 months. In a way they entire trip almost seems as if it were a dream. For all [...]

A Sailors Life For Me
Who ever said the time flys when you are having fun has obviously never been sailing in the Whitsundays. Our internships ended last week and we all started getting ready for our spring break trip that we have been anticipating for the last 2 months. A group of about 15 of us decided to go [...]

10 People…1 House Boat…No Captain
Last weekend a group of 10 of us rented a large house boat and went cruising around the closest rivers and canals north of Sydney. With none of us having any formal boat training we were a little anxious to see how we would do with a several hundred thousand dollar boat that was just [...]

Going Broke…30 cents at a time
Taking full advantage of our increasingly hotter temperatures we have been fully packing our weekends with trips to Sydney’s local beaches, the petting zoo, aquarium and the Blue Mountains. One of my favorite beaches here in Sydney is Manly Beach. Our beach days are generally start with me lugging around my enormous surf board through [...]

Bronte Beach…Worst Day Ever

It is surrounded by hills lined with million dollar villas, reminiscent of an Italian hillside. The perfectly warm sand combined with [...]

We Have Arrived ‘Down Under’
I came to Australia under the impression that I was going to be meeting some stereotypical Australians. I was quite surprised to find out that Sydney is a melting pot of cultures with an extremely large Asian population; many of which speak in a thick Australian accent. Being an immature and ignorant American, I found [...]

Pre Departure Anticipation
Before I embark on my two-month trip to Sydney, Australia thoughts of travel and adventure are racing through my head at a pace faster than I can keep up with. My entire life I have dreamed of traveling to the mystical country “down under”. Now that the trip is two days away I can barely [...]
