Welcome to my blog page, readers! My name is Ashley Wolfe. I am a sophomore at Augie double majoring in English – Writing Emphasis & Neuroscience. On campus I am involved in the Sigma Kappa Tau sorority, Cantilena Augustana, Co-President of the March of Dimes Collegiate Council at Augustana, and I serve as the Kiwanis International Ambassador for Circle K International, and as a Committee Chair and Lieutenant Governor on the Illinois-Eastern Iowa Circle K District Board. I also work as a lifeguard for the Carver PE Center and a student researcher for Special Collections in the library. In my spare time I enjoy writing, playing piano, and swimming. I hope that you enjoy my blog posts! If you ever have any questions about what Augie is like, or you want to learn more, feel free to send me an email at ashleywolfe11@augustana.edu.
My Winter Break Happenings
My Christmas recess was fairly enjoyable, and reflective. I saw a lot of old familiar faces and did some things that I wouldn’t normally think of doing over break. In high school I was heavily involved in Key Club, which is a high school service organization (in college they call it Circle K). Key Club [...]

Christmas on Campus Makes Me Feel at Home
Every day when I am at Augustana I try to remind myself why I chose to enroll here, and how lucky I am that I am able to go to college at all. One reason that has recently made itself known throughout campus is the celebration of Christmas. You might be thinking, “Christmas? At school? [...]

A Renewed Sense of Acceptance
During my years here I have witnessed the Augustana community show its true colors many times by accepting and respecting others. The Augustana community accepts the differing opinions of others in the classroom, recognizes the community aspects of being involved in organizations such as Greek life, and lets people be who they are as human [...]

Not Your Typical “Faculty and Staff”
I was doing a bit of reflection this past week on the time that I have spent so far at Augustana. I have made the realization that I not only have my network of friends that support me, but I also have have a network of faculty and staff who have been extremely helpful to [...]

On Walkers and Drivers around Augustana
Recently I have noticed a lack of tolerance that walkers have for their peers and drivers, and vice versa. It seems that walkers and drivers both think that they own the roads (and sidewalks for walkers) around here. So these are some of my thoughts on this. Based on recent observations, I have concluded that [...]

An Afternoon of Awe and Art
I am by no means an expert in art history or art in general, but I do try to appreciate art and the experience that it gives me. This afternoon after I completed my last exam of the week I decided I would spend the afternoon at the Figge Art Museum in Davenport, IA. All [...]

Shaking Hands with President Obama
Waking up before 8am is a rarity on a college campus. However, today, after one hour of sleep, I woke up at 5am and went with a small group of friends to see President Obama speak at a campaign rally in Davenport, IA. We were within the first 50 people there, so after going through [...]

Knowing a Name
What do I love the most about the beginning of a new term? It’s not a fresh start. It’s not the new faces. It’s not even syllabus day. The first day of classes I am reminded of why I chose Augustana. I walk into class on the first day, and the professor knows my name. [...]

New Term, New Topics, New Stress
By the end of Fall Term, I was more than ready to be home. By the end of break, I was more than ready to be back. My relationship with college is definitely a love-hate one. This term I am taking French 331: Introduction to French Literature, Psychology 100: Introduction to Psychology, Honors 122: Seeking [...]
