A window inside life at Augustana College

Well, hey there, 2013!

As I arrived on campus on Sunday, I was amazed by how quickly I felt back in the swing of things. I had a great three weeks home with my family and friends, but I was beyond excited to be back with my school friends in the place that so quickly became home to me.

What I didn’t realize until today, however, was just how big of a toll those three weeks took on me. I felt completely lost in all of my classes and I forgot what homework felt like. As I sit here now, looking at my massive To-Do list, I realize how often I procrastinate.

My advice to anyone is to not let those three weeks go to waste. I’m certainly not saying study the whole time, but completely forgetting about homework doesn’t seem to be the answer, either. If there are a few things that could get done over break, but don’t necessarily have to be done…DO THEM!!

Another thing that Augustana is great for is keeping you moving. After three weeks of driving anywhere I wanted to go and walking up just a singular flight of stairs to get to my room, I was more worn out than I remember ever being after my trip up the slough. So, over break, keep moving! Go on a walk with your dog, or hit the gym with some friends because this is definitely not a campus for people who don’t appreciate a good hill to climb.

Speaking of campus, I just wanted to take a moment to mention all of the amazing things that are going on around here. As if the beautiful snow on the ground wasn’t enough, how about the beautiful new Brew by the Slough? I was amazed by the quality of work that the construction crew got done over break. The Brew now looks like something that belongs at a fancy hotel. The stone columns, sparkly countertops, and new seating create an air of swankiness and class the place up a whole bunch. Maybe it’s because I’m a nerd, but I can’t wait to go in there and do homework. I am also very excited to see what the 5th floor of the library looks like and the new addition.

It looks like 2013 will be a big year here at Augie and I can’t wait to see what it has in store!
