A window inside life at Augustana College

The beginning of the end..

Hello everyone!

I apologize for my lack of blogs over the past few months.  Summer kept me busy with work and just taking a break from school.  I still can’t believe that I’m a SENIOR!  People are right when they say your college years fly by.  I feel like it was just yesterday that I was living in Andreen and still getting adjusting to college life.  I have changed so much over these past 3 years and have done things and joined clubs I never thought I would.

Let’s get back to what I did this summer.

  • I worked in the Communication and Marketing office on campus.  I’m so thankful I was given the opportunity to continue working in the office over the summer.  It was so much different to work 8 hours, 5 days a week instead of 2 hours, 3 days a week.  I had a great experience and have some wonderful material for my resume.  I got to write 3 articles (one for the Augustana Magazine, and 2 for the website) along with a lot of press releases and other jobs.  Have you seen those big blue decals on the sidewalk?  I helped with those as well :)
  • Me and 2 of my best friends took a road trip to the Coral Ridge mall in Iowa City in July.  That was a lot of fun and I definitely did some damage to my wallet that day :)
  • At the beginning of August my mom, dad, and I traveled the 10 hours to Charleston, West Virginia to visit my brother who had been working there over the summer.  West Virginia is a very beautiful state and I had never been there before.    We found out that the drivers there are just terrible and the roads are very hilly.  But the scenery makes up for all of that :)  We had a very relaxing trip and I’m so grateful for the time I got to spend with my family.   My mom and I had a blast shopping and my dad and brother got to golf a couple of times.  We were there for about a week and one of the days we went to downtown Charleston to visit the capitol and go to the huge shopping mall.  The state capitol is a gorgeous building made out of 14k gold.  It made for some great picture opportunities :)

All in all, summer 2012 was really great and I was sad to see it come to an end :(  I hope everyone else had a wonderful summer as well! :)

In my next post I will talk about my SI (senior inquiry) for communication studies.

Until next time,

Jen
