Hello everyone!
I apologize for my lack of blogs over the past few months. Summer kept me busy with work and just taking a break from school. I still can’t believe that I’m a SENIOR! People are right when they say your college years fly by. I feel like it was just yesterday that I was living in Andreen and still getting adjusting to college life. I have changed so much over these past 3 years and have done things and joined clubs I never thought I would.
Let’s get back to what I did this summer.
- I worked in the Communication and Marketing office on campus. I’m so thankful I was given the opportunity to continue working in the office over the summer. It was so much different to work 8 hours, 5 days a week instead of 2 hours, 3 days a week. I had a great experience and have some wonderful material for my resume. I got to write 3 articles (one for the Augustana Magazine, and 2 for the website) along with a lot of press releases and other jobs. Have you seen those big blue decals on the sidewalk? I helped with those as well
- Me and 2 of my best friends took a road trip to the Coral Ridge mall in Iowa City in July. That was a lot of fun and I definitely did some damage to my wallet that day
- At the beginning of August my mom, dad, and I traveled the 10 hours to Charleston, West Virginia to visit my brother who had been working there over the summer. West Virginia is a very beautiful state and I had never been there before. We found out that the drivers there are just terrible and the roads are very hilly. But the scenery makes up for all of that
We had a very relaxing trip and I’m so grateful for the time I got to spend with my family. My mom and I had a blast shopping and my dad and brother got to golf a couple of times. We were there for about a week and one of the days we went to downtown Charleston to visit the capitol and go to the huge shopping mall. The state capitol is a gorgeous building made out of 14k gold. It made for some great picture opportunities
All in all, summer 2012 was really great and I was sad to see it come to an end
I hope everyone else had a wonderful summer as well!
In my next post I will talk about my SI (senior inquiry) for communication studies.
Until next time,
Jen
