A window inside life at Augustana College

Lunch with my future self?

Last Thursday, I had the opportunity to sit down and eat lunch with Augustana’s convocation speaker, Callie Crossley.
Crossley currently has a talk show in Boston on WGBH-FM, 89.7 and has been a news reporter, producer and has received an Emmy and an Academy Award nomination. I had the opportunity with two other students and some faculty to go eat lunch and talk with her. While I am still unsure about what I want to do in life, since I have so many interests, I got a sense that I could be Crossley in the future. The great thing about Augustana is you get to meet and see so many professionals in different fields. Not only do you get to hear them speak, but occasionally you get that one-on-one experience. Crossley also came to two of my classes and discussed her life, politics, gender and communication. She is super knowledgable and has an opinion on everything. Even though I didn’t have an epiphany about what I want to do after I graduate next year, it was nice seeing and talking to someone who is currently in a field I am interested in.

On another note, this past Saturday, Australian magician James Galea came to Augustana. He was amazing! While magician tricks typically tend to be the same, he had one that was particularly spectacular. You can watch when he performed that trick on The Ellen Show here.
