My last post was about one of my biggest enemies, Week 10. This post, however, will ramble a bit about one of my newest and most delightful friends–Week 1.
Since Augustana’s on trimesters, we recently started our winter term. Most people are taking four classes; however, I only have to take three thanks to taking four years of foreign language and a couple dual credit social science courses in high school. My schedule consists of Digital Photography, LSFY (a theater-related course,) and Geography 101 with a lab; LSFY is required, Geography helps with my Elementary Education major and knocks out a perspective, and Digital Photography enhances my graphic design minor and helps me improve my skills for my photography business. I only have to wake up between 8 and 9 o’ clock every day, and I never have more than two classes a day.
In other words, I adore my schedule. Having a not-so-busy or strenuous class load allows me to still have time for working in Admissions, eating lunch with my “little brother” once a week through Big Brothers Big Sisters, take jazz saxophone lessons and play clarinet in concert band, and much more.
I don’t remember the last time before this week when I could sit in my dorm room and actually have free time to write a blog and listen to music without feeling rushed or stressed, and let me tell you, it feels absolutely outstanding.
Oh, and one more reason I love this term already–breaks. I’ve only been back for about a week, and in just a few days, I’ll have a short break for Thanksgiving, not to mention winter break is just around the corner as well. As much as I love Augustana, I cannot wait to go home and spend time with my best friends that I haven’t seen since before I left for college.
To make a long story short, I kinda sorta love life right now, and Week 1′s making that fact possible.
