It’s hard to believe it’s been almost a month since school started– time really does fly by! This is my very first blog post, so bare with me:) I’ve been keeping myself super busy this year just because last year I wasn’t as involved as I wanted to be, and the same applies to my high school years. I was never really that person that went above and beyond or participate in many clubs/sports. I did play soccer for a bit, but I always yearned to be involved in something more. Arriving to Augustana last year, I was looking for a fresh start with some new faces. Needless to say, I was ecstatic. I couldn’t wait to join new clubs, meet new people and become best friends with my roommate (which is the cliche many people, such as myself, fall for). Little did I know, my start here at Augie would be anything but easy; my roommate and I did not get along, I was having a hard time finding new friends, and on top of that my classes were more than challenging. But this post isn’t meant to be a complaint of my rough start; instead, what I hope that readers get out of my blog is an understanding that even though things might not go according to plan at first, that doesn’t mean that they won’t eventually get better. You have to learn to deal with what you have and make it better yourself. Which is exactly what I did coming into school this year. I found a new roommate who I absolutely adore, cut out all the negative people from my life and made new friends, and joined various clubs. I’m now a part of UNYK (a multicultural dance group), Habitat for Humanity, Augustana Hillel (the Jewish organization on campus), and a volunteer coach for peewee soccer. I’ve been keeping myself busy and happy these past few weeks, and despite recently catching a cold, I’m glad I can finally call Augustana my home away from home.
Below you’ll find some pics of the campus that were taken around fall term of last year (fall is my favorite time here, all the leaves change colors and it’s absolutely gorgeous). And also a picture of me and my awesome new roommate, Michelle:) I’ll also be posting pictures of the different clubs I do and other things, so stay tuned!
Thanks for reading and happy Monday!
