A window inside life at Augustana College

Hi! I’m Jennifer Schroder and a junior majoring in communication studies with a minor in sociology. I’m from right here in Rock Island and have lived here my whole life. I attended Rock Island High School (Go Rocks!). On campus I’m involved in Circle K, ELCA world hunger, Camp Kesem, and ADs club. I work in the Communications and Marketing office. My friends and family mean the world to me. I am quite addicted to France and anything with the Eiffel Tower, as well as the color purple. I love to have fun and laugh! Join me in my blog adventures!

So long winter term!

Winter term has officially ended and spring break has begun.  Grades were posted today and I’m pretty darn happy with how I did  This was one of my hardest terms yet.  I’m so glad it’s over.  Now that I have seen my grades I can relax and have fun! On Wednesday my friend from Sweden […]

A weekend filled with homework

Week 8 has come to an end and the stress is piling up.  I have a total 4 papers and 2 finals due before spring break can start.  Butttt, spring break is going to be amazing!  Wanna know why??  My friend Tess from Sweden, who I met in Taize over the summer (check out my […]

Reflecting on 2011

I can’t believe the year is almost over.  It’s been an exciting year full of firsts and a few emotional breakdowns.  I’m more than halfway through my college career…which is both exciting and scary at the same time. Here are the highlights (both good and bad) of 2011: February: I changed my major from CSD (Communication Sciences & […]

Senior housing, internships, and the smell of Christmas

Oh my, what a busy term this has been!  I’ve hardly been able to catch my breath.  My classes this term require loads of reading and writing.  Thanksgiving was a nice break.  I had a wonderful time with my family filled with lots of turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole, and so many desserts!  Being around […]

See ya fall, hello frigid temps

Sorry for not posting last week but it was our fall break (Augie has 3 terms which are 10 weeks long) so I was little busy, plus I really had nothing new to report since my last post.  My break was wonderful and so relaxing.   I caught up on all of the sleep I lost […]

Finals week means fall break is near!

You won’t find a single person on Augie’s campus, or any campus for that matter, that likes finals week.  The only positive aspect of getting limited sleep, staring at your computer screen for hours, living in the library, and not having a social life is the fact that fall break is just around the corner!  […]

Homecoming Week: Augie Style

Yesterday wrapped up the last activities of Homecoming 2011.  I love Homecoming week at Augie.  There is always so much to do and it’s really nice to see all of the alumni come back (that will be me in 2 years!).  Augustana is such a tight-knit community and you can really see that during homecoming. […]

PARIS!! :)

So this post is a continuation of my last post.  We have now left Taize and have arrived in the amazing, wonderful, beautiful, spectacular city of Paris, France!! I have wanted to go to Paris ever since I started taking French my freshman year of high school.  So let me tell you, I was on […]

Memories of summer and France

As the trees change and the acorns fall (I’ve almost gotten hit on the head a few times!) the memories of this past summer still linger in my mind.  It’s still hard to believe that I’ve been over 4,000 miles away from home to the beautiful countryside of France and climbed the Eiffel Tower.  If […]

What a crazy life!

So, I had planned on talking about my France trip in this blog but I just don’t have the time now so you will have to wait until next week!  This has been another wild, exhausting week and it’s not over yet.  Just to explain how busy it is: I’m doing homework on a Saturday night at […]
