A window inside life at Augustana College

Hey! My name is Tyrrell Jeffries, and I am an Augie freshman. I’m from Aurora, IL and a former student of West Aurora High School. I love to sing, and that is why I’m part of the Wennerberg Men’s Chorus, and the Augustana Ascension Singers. I will be pursing a major in sociology, and hopefully a minor and music education. I’m looking forward to continuing meeting new people and becoming involved in some of the great programs and clubs Augustana has to offer.

In Memory of Corrine Jeffries-Conway 4/20/11

It’s crazy how a year can feel like yesterday, because even though I woke up this morning at 6:30am to register for senior year classes, or the fact that all the other stresses of the week were still there; all I could think about was a year ago today you passed away. So while working […]

Its Been A Year…!?

One year ago on November 25, you left this world, leaving your family and all your friends including myself with an empty void in our life that no one can fill. The laughter and bright spirit that you spread to every person you came in contact with, only a small few could ever hope to […]

It’s Homecoming but, I’m not going Home

So I haven’t written a blog in a very long time, because I have been extremely busy and 24 hours in a day just isn’t enough. The school year is off and running and I’m still trying to catch up. Its like being in a race and getting a bad start, right from the beginning you’re using so much energy […]

Wait Wait I need to Catch my Breath!

So Spring term met me at my door, after I got back to campus from spring break (aka winter break part 2) took me by the hand and started running, and I have been trying to play catch up ever since. Its already week three and it seems like the days are blending in with […]

Ice Ice Baby

Hey all, I know been a while since I have updated a post I know, but hopefully this story will make up for my lack of blog posts! So like most of my fellow first year class mates, I learned the hard way the reason Augustana sells ice cleat covers for your shoes during the […]

In Loving Memory

Life at times can seem so predictable and constant. Without realizing it you get so comfortable and set in a routine, you come to expect certain things; because you have forgotten how fast life can throw you an unexpected curve ball. From materiel things to people, we come to expect that when we get ready […]

My First Time!

So I have lived in Aurora, IL my entire life, until this past August when I moved to the Rock Island area to come to Auggie. And for the first time over fall break I had my first train ride to Chicago. For those of you who don’t know Aurora is only like 45 minutes […]

Registration, a Pain in my…?

So I had my first taste of college registration last week. Meeting with my advisor I was confident, I thought this was going to be a piece of cake. For the first time I was choosing my own classes, not based on  what a test place me in, or the regular math, english, and science […]

“Friends How Many of Us have Them”

One of the scariest things about leaving high school and going away to college is the fesr of being alone and losing those close friends, in which you have been acustomed to. But its one of the best feelings in the world when you meet a new friend and you wonder “where has this person […]
