A window inside life at Augustana College

Hi! My name is Katrina Jensen, and I am a senior at Augustana. I am double majoring in communication sciences & disorders and psychology. I am also involved in a number of activities on campus including playing my French horn in Symphonic Band, Campus Ministries, Clogustana, Admissions Ambassadors and Peer Mentors and the Augustana Student Speech and Hearing Association. In the summer of 2009, I traveled to Singapore and Thailand where I participated in a volunteer abroad program. Click here to read about my travels.

For my mommy

“Mother love is the fuel that enables a normal human being to do the impossible.” ~Marion C. Garretty, quoted in A Little Spoonful of Chicken Soup for the Mother’s Soul I am everything I am today because of my mom. I have never known a woman so selfless, loving, and inspirational as she is. My […]

Ice Cream WORLD RECORD????

Guess what?!?!?!? Next Tuesday, May 20th, everyone in the Augustana Community and the surrounding area will have the chance to be involved in setting a world record right here on our campus!!! At 5:30pm on the football field, we will be forming (hopefully) the world’s longest ice-cream licking chain. We need to have more than […]

Why don’t we just dance?

Last night wasn’t my typical Friday night. The CSD department hosted a “Spring Fling” dance for all of our middle school-high school aged clients and it was a TON of FUN! We had “pamper time” in the clinic beforehand where the girls came to get their hair, nails, and makeup done by some of us […]

Why I hate (and love) Easter

At Augie, we are lucky to have an extended Easter break. We have both Friday and Monday off, making it a nice long 4-day weekend. I tend to find that Easter weekend is both a blessing and a curse. I made it home Saturday in time for a nice long nap and a quick run-through […]

Katrina’s Awesome Day

So, I had an awesome day today. True story. For starters, it was the first day of clinic for this term and I got to meet my new client and reconnect with a returning one, which is always exciting! In other news- the rats came today!!! During my work shift in the psych department, the […]

The sun is shining, the birds are singing…

…and yet the homework must go on! Our new spring term finally feels like spring! Today it was so sunny and warm enough outside not to wear a jacket! I even took a nap in the sun with my window open to let some of that fresh spring air in. It always seems like Augie […]

Life…with a smile

By demand from my loving father, here is a brief recount of the highlights from my last few weeks. Hold on to your pants- its been a wild ride! -Visited my roommate Anna’s hometown for her 21st birthday at the end of winter break. Let’s just say her 70-something-year-old great aunt ended up dancing on […]

A Year in Reflection

If you would have told me a year ago what my life would be like today, I would have told you that you were crazy. It’s hard to even comprehend all the things that have happened in my life since last Christmas. From our band tour in the South to my summer of Camp and […]

Tis the Season

The first day back from Thanksgiving break is always a special day for Ana and me. Since freshman year, this is the day that we have put up our Christmas decorations in our dorm rooms. It is always a very festive occasion, with Christmas music playing in the background and usually we don’t wear pants. […]
