Basketball, wrestling will be streamed live

Fans interested in following the Augustana men's and women's basketball programs, as well as the Viking wrestlers, will have an additional opportunity to do so this season. Augustana will provide live streaming video of those home events this winter.

The video can be accessed at augustana.edu/vikingsvideo, or through the Game Day link on the athletics web page. Audio webcasts of men's basketball away games also will be available.

Archives of both video and audio webcasts can be accessed by going to the "On Demand" tab on Augustana's video page.

Augustana began video streaming during the 2011 fall sports season. Viking home football games were covered with audio commentary provided by WAUG, the college's student-run radio station. Home contests in women's and men's soccer and volleyball also were streamed.

In addition, the annual Tribe of Vikings Hall of Fame induction was presented during Homecoming weekend.

Viking athletic events were viewed live by more 1,500 users during the fall season, with archive views nearing 600.

Tentative plans for the spring of 2012 include video streaming of the first season of men's and women's varsity lacrosse from Thorson-Lucken Field.
